Objectively and objectivity means the same in this case.

Yeah, I was just draggin' the word out from the context, it was about the meaning, not the form.

I wonder, that something like "objectively" really exists.

this is how id say it, youre at no obligation to take my advice tho.

mailman: these are 2 different words with 2 different meanings. objectivity is a noun, objectively is an adverb. if you dont know what the difference is then all i can i say is i feel sorry for you. :P

Feh. "If" instead of "that", my mistake.

:lol: :lol:

Believe me, that kind of thing does not exist.

Yeah, I know it sounds weird, but since we don't live in that system (in this case the U.S.) I think it is possible. :D But if the others want to change the topic, go ahead, what do you guys have on your mind? :D

Only two things are endless: The universe and human stupidity...though I'm not certain about the first...

Anyays objectivity is the fine art when you're telling your opinion without telling your own opinion. :P

Religion? :lol:

Hi all, i'm new to here, i've just found this topic and my heart is charged by hapiness.:D I love writing and making conversation in english with other people. However, my english skill is obtused a bit, but i don't thing it'll cause serious problemes. :)

So, the topic that you've mentiod before (religion) a nice one. What is your aspect ?

I guess god is exist, and has a power over everything, and is the greatest being in the world.

In my opinion, it's not important that who belives what god the accent is on trusting.

I don't think religion would be a good topic, cause I think it would cause some fights...

I think the Holy Bible deserves a better title: Holy Bible of Lies.

I don't think there's anything like God or something, or if there is, then he could do something to change the world.

I think there shouldn't be any churches, I think if somebody has a religion, then it should really be a personal business, which could've been done at home. One ther thing: I really hate those, who kill because of their religion (but of course it most happens in Arabian countries), but there also were Christian inquisitions, naaah, inquisitions are disgusting.

I think nowadays it's a fashion to be religious, well, I'm not even baptized.

What I really hate is when some stupid kids/men and women/old men and women don't like you 'cause you'r not a fucking Christian or something they'd like you to be... lol <_<

Ooooh, and one more thing which I really hate: when parents baptize their 1-year-old children... I think it's a bullshit, that kid could decide when he/she got older whether if he/she wants to get baptized or not.

So, I think religion is just another thing to lead people to disputes.

Or, if I'd really wanted to see the bright side of it: it's another thing for people to practise tolerance.

Don't forget that since 300's the Church is not only a spiritual fellowship, but an institution. An institution, in which humans are gathering power and money from the other humans' stupidity and gullibility. Great deal.

What I really hate is when some stupid kids/men and women/old men and women don't like you 'cause you're not a fucking Christian or something they'd like you to be... lol <_<

And we don't like them 'cause they're fucking Christians or anything they are, and would like us to be the same. Simply ignore them :).

Well, I believe God, but these 'Churches' are damned bloodsuckers, nothing more, and I don't let them to say what >>must I<< believe.

God exists, but in a quite simple way. So go ask a priest abour God. He will say that you can't see him, you can't touch him, but he is everywhere, he can't be destroyed he was and he will be for all eternity. Then go and ask somebody who is dealing with quantum physics about energy. He will say that you can't see it, you can't touch it, but it is everywhere, it can't be destroyed and it was and will be for all eternity. God is but an explanation for the energy that forms the universe. Nothing more and nothing less.

I think the God is Power (like in the Star Wars), He is everywhere in the universe, and made everything. We are fallen angels, our missions in the life: found our God again.

Didn't mean it, guys.

[pff]

It's a forbidden topic here.

But whatever, I think God does not exist in the form all the religions believe: i think there must be some great information-amount, that builds an entity, that can't make decisions, can't even move or think, but it still makes sense to the world. See: when two guys are fighting over something, and both of them are right, you can't choose, you can't decide, who should win. You have too much information, you can't be objective. If there is a God, it can't make any decisions, because of the too much information: pretty much EVERY information and answer in the world. (So it won't answer to prayers, won't be interested in human affairs.)

The world is far too complex to understand it, we just can't comprehend it, but still we know: we should live a good life. Making up gods and religions is just a help to endure it. Just ways. I too have a religion, but it's mine, as you see, I won't hurt nobody, because he thinks another way.

I even like a taoist saying, something like: without death and non-existence, life wouldn't make any sense.

But, on the other side: nothing lasts forever, and that is indeed a scary fact. And fear summons religion.

I must get an Exam Fright Killer: 50 Advanced Topics book before the end of the month. Today I went to a second-hand bookshop, but they didn't have it, I went to another place, where they said it wouldn't arrive until 18th, but it'd be a little bit late for me, so... I'll look some other places or I'll order it from their homepage, but the postage and everything... ah, it's more complicated than going into a bookstore and buying it. :rolleyes:

I just found this poem, I think it's absolutely brilliant:

William Blake - Introduction (Songs of Innocence and Experience)

Hear the voice of the Bard,

Who present, past, and future, sees;

Whose ears have heard

The Holy Word

That walked among the ancient trees;

Calling the lapsed soul,

And weeping in the evening dew;

That might control

The starry pole,

And fallen, fallen light renew!

'O Earth, O Earth, return!

Arise from out the dewy grass!

Night is worn,

And the morn

Rises from the slumbrous mass.

'Turn away no more;

Why wilt thou turn away?

The starry floor,

The watery shore,

Is given thee till the break of day.

Stupid question: what does 'prequel' mean in hungarian? I don't find it in any dictionaries. There's an explanation on wikipedia.org, but I don't really understand it. Please someone tell me! :)

As far as I know it could be described as 'történetbeli elõzmény'.

It's something (movie, novel, game) that tells some well-known story's preliminaries, but it's made after the original one (that told the story). The best example is Chris Nolan's Batman Begins from 2005, which is a prequel to Tim Burton's Batman from 1989. (or Stalker Clear Sky is also perfect)

I see! The bolded sentence is what nowhere has written, but I think that's the point :)

Thank you!

The example you gave (Batman) is incorrect, because, as far as I know, Nolan's batman is totally different from the one created by Tim Burton. So the things that happened in Burton's Batman universe doesn't have any connection with Nolan's. But I may be wrong. :D

Well, let's just say you convinced me, the Clear Sky still stays, and that's definitely a good example.
