Gereman Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 It must have been very cool. Another thing to go to England for. :D
Lowász Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I was in London for a week quite a while ago (as a 10 year old), but I remember that it was one of the finest holidays I have ever been on. You know, every summer was the same "beach vacation" with the family, in Egypt, Turkey, the french riviere, Tunesia, etc. etc... I needed something else, something more intense. And I got it. I advise going to London or Paris, if you would like to explore the outside world. :) Since then I quitted going to the family holidays, instead, I went sightseeing to various places. It was worth it. Another topic: Is somebody well informed about the difficulty of the C2 language exam? I'd like to pass it sometimes (or at least try to pass it).
Arwy Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 I passed my C1 exam about a year ago... well... it wasn't really really hard, but I think C2 must be very very hard. I know this doesn't really make sense but at least I'm trying to help. ^_^ :D Btw my best friend's been to Scotland about a week ago for 2 weeks, and she told me some things about the Scotsch's life and I saw some pictures. That place is totally cool, I'm so jealous... (like always) :( :D The standard of living, the mentality of the people, ohh.. but the weather was really bad and it's like that all the time, so... it's not the perfect place for me but of course I'd accept it if someone had offered a house in Scotland to me. :D
a880120 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Hi! I'm attending an elementary English course. I started this course in last November. I will to take ECL exam in next month. Unfortunately i have some error in writing. I would like if you correct me where i make mistake. Thanx. I think I speak well altough I don't now a lot of words yet which I would need. I'm affraid to reading, and listening because those a little hard for our group. I don't know why. We practise a lot and I hope that they will go well. I have five classes a day. This course consist of about 500 lessons. I'd like if you write to me some ask or anything because this would be useful for me.

Correcting, i might make mistakes too :D Few weeks ago my sister started a course too. She has to take an exam in 1 or 2 years, to get her diploma :) What problems do you have with reading and listening?

"i have some error in writing" (difficulties is suitable i think) "I will to take ECL exam in next month." (Going to is better instead of 'will' - becasue you arranged this exam) " I'm affraid to reading" (afraid of) "I have five classes" (lessons is more suitable) Correcting, i might make mistakes too :D Few weeks ago my sister started a course too. bullet50 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 What kind of problems... i think this is !!!!much!!!! better... :) maybe, but my version is shorter :P
SasOri-Sama Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Alright... let's talk about who's ever been to Great Britain or any English speaking country? I never. I went to the UK for a week, which our school had organized, and it was a helluva trip. : D Beatiful sights, lotta hotties (of course not the english gals, those were bloody ugly, I meant the black and asian chicks : D) nice people, cheap Guinness, cheap Pringles, Oxford Street, British Museum...God It's hard to even pick my favorite moments. : D We slept in mobile homes, like 5 minutes from the seashore, and that was bloody brilliant too. And I wanna go back. : D And like 10 people in England said that I look like Hurley from Lost. : D Cuz I'm fat and I had long curly hair, but now that I have dreadlocks this nightmare is over. : D And I also dropped 20 kilos so... : D
MagicAcid Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 She has to take an exam in 1 or 2 years, to get her diploma A friend of mine, took an esperanto C1 level exam, since she needed it to graduate :) Esperanto ain't good for nothing, but it's easy to learn, in 6 months. It is not offical language in any countriy, it was created by nyelvészek, becasue they wanted to create a world language, witch is simple as hell and very easy to learn. The problem is that Amercains and English were not willing to learn it, so it couldn't replace english as a world language. Damn! :D As far as I know, C2 exam is not only difficult but it is useless. C1 is enough, C2 is not required anywhere. Most of the employers doesn't even know it exists.
Arwy Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 I think English is very easy so I don't think we need this esperanto language to replace it.

Thorpedro Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 nice :D i didnt think it was possible to take an exam of esperanto :) i heard about a guy who started to learn lovari (gypsy) for the same reason but failed at the exam :D I dont know if i will take c1 anytime soon, only if it will be needed, middle level c was quite easy for me tho. Haha actually reminds me of those few minutes while waiting for the oral results to be announced so had a quick look around and actually you could already see a few scores already published...3 pages of English, 2 pages of German, and 5 pages of Lovari, sooo looks like gypo was already the way forward back then for the same reason haha
a880120 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Erdy, bullet, thankx! Oh, I've almost forgotten this topic. We practised today, too. We practised today, and the speaking went (?) well, but listening, and reading.... I don't know what's the problem. Our teacher say not will be problem. We have exactly a month until the exam. Perhaps they speak very quickly. Reading is hard, too. There are a lot of foreing word. We learn very-very lots of words I have book (888 question, and 888 answer) and there are these words. Believe.... many. I have an old English couple friends. I talke them sometimes. We met last September when at the cinema was Public Enemies. I didn't English well then but I undestood what they said. I want to learn sometimes (valamikor?) lovári. Why? I'd feel in safe a little. :D I am interested in sign language.

We have exactly a month until the exam. Perhaps they speak very quickly. Reading is hard, too. There are a lot of unknown words. I want to learn (valamikor?, igen de a mondat végére kell) lovári sometimes. Why? I'd feel safe a little. :D I am interested in sign language. I've been preparing for the level C exam, and I agree with you that listening is the most cruel part of the exam. :) Sometimes people speaking on the recording, talk too fast, or they have an accent. And if somehow you manage to understand that they said, it turns out that the questions are tricky. That's why I watch TV only in ENglish. It helps a lot. "I am interested in sign language." I'm not sure what you wanted to say. Probably you should find another world. And of course there can be mistakes in my versoin as well, I am sorry If there are any
Raven Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 I think English is very easy so I don't think we need this esperanto language to replace it. its easy to speak shit english and get people to understand you, but on higher levels its just as complicated as any other language. some people here are under the false impression that passing an intermediate or better yet, an advanced level language exam is the same as being able to speak the language. sorry to break it to you but its not. :)
MagicAcid Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 its easy to speak shit english and get people to understand you, but on higher levels its just as complicated as any other language. some people here are under the false impression that passing an intermediate or better yet, an advanced level language exam is the same as being able to speak the language. sorry to break it to you but its not. :) That is the point of language, isn't it? To make people understand you. If someone asks directions from me in "shit hungarian", I understand it and I'm just too glad to help :) (So do you, I guess) The level of the exam mens the level you can communicate on. From my point of view, passing an advanced level exam usually means that you can communicate on a quite high level and you can speak the language. :) By the end of this school year, I will have learnt French language for two years, and as far as I can tell, It is much more complicated even in a lower level, than English in advanced level. :(
Arwy Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 its easy to speak shit english and get people to understand you, but on higher levels its just as complicated as any other language. some people here are under the false impression that passing an intermediate or better yet, an advanced level language exam is the same as being able to speak the language. sorry to break it to you but its not. :) Yeah it's easy to learn speaking English badly. I think getting to the shit level in English is easier than in other languages. So whatever you say I still think English is a very easy language to learn, especially nowadays when you can see and hear English words almost everywhere 'cause of course as we all know it's a world language. And you don't have to waste so many time on perfecting your vocabulary 'cause you already know some useful words and you can focus on grammar (and I think thiis is true even on higher levels). That's why I think it's easy for everyone who's in the similar circumstances to ours. So, again, I think English is easy but most of the people just don't even want to get on higher level than the shit one (as you mentioned  ) although they have the opportunity. (At least for example 70% of my classmates who learn English as the first foreign language don't want to learn English at all I think they're under the shit level. And it's a nyelvi elõkészítõ (language prep or what? That sounds weird.) class. By the end of this school year, I will have learnt French language for two years, and as far as I can tell, It is much more complicated even in a lower level, than English in advanced level. :( Yeah, well, I've been learning Italian for about 6 months and it's much harder for me than English or German. I think the people know many English and German words (because of for example the media, our history with Austria etc.) but Italian vocabulary... I think it's a bit like Latin but still the vocabulary's not that easy for me as for example the English or German. My best friend's learned French for 8 years and she said it was a lot harder than English and even German though it's made a good base for learning German ('cause there are some grammatic similarities). MagicAcid: I knew what he (a88) was talking about but I wanted to be sure and yes, he wrote it well according to SZTAKI. You know it's the language for deaf people and others who also have some kind of problems with their hearing.
Raven Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 From my point of view, passing an advanced level exam usually means that you can communicate on a quite high level and you can speak the language. :) too bad that statement doesnt hold true to real life.
DaVeman Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 And on the other side, there are several people, who speak better without an exam than those who have. Because they use it strongly in their work. Acquering a nice sheet, saying you're on high level is just not enough. It must be put into practise and hold the knowledge on a certain level. April 16, ECL exam. Still have a month. And it's a nyelvi elõkészítõ (language prep or what? That sounds weird.) class. We call it preparatory year. Also used to be called zero class. More than 20 english lessons a week, that was such a kick in the ass :D too bad that statement doesnt hold true to real life. Interesting expression, thanks :)
Arwy Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 DaVeman: I don't think that's the good expression. I wasn't talking about the first year, I was talking about the type of the class. I'm trying to say that I am in a 'nyelvi elõkészítõ' class and I'm not in the preparatory year neither in the zero class. By the way this all is ridiculous, 'cause they said at first that nobody has to learn a second language in the first year of the nyelvi elõkészítõ class, so we'll have 11 advanced level language lessons per week and none of other languages. And when we started going to high school all of a sudden the school's headmaster changed his mind, so we had 7 lessons of the advanced level and 4 of the beginner level language. Now from the second year we have 4 lessons advanced level and 3 of the other language. I don't understand why it's called a nyelvi elõkészítõ when they don't even prepare us for anything. The teachers just simply tried getting us to the same level (which has never ever been succesful) and at least half of the class still can't say a simple sentence without mistakes. Ahhh, whatever, I've had enough of this stupid school, it just makes me angry.
MagicAcid Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 too bad that statement doesnt hold true to real life. Actually it does. A year back, when I was in England, me and my classmates could perfectly make ourselves understand with our hosts, moreover we had long talks, and it meant no problem to speak fluently. And than we had only an intemediate level exam. Of yourse, there are those who pass the exam somehow, but they don't dare to speak, consequently they cannot communicate. April 16, ECL exam. Still have a month So do I. Exactly the same date :D
DaVeman Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 So do I. Exactly the same date :D And will you take your later oral exam with a friend or classmate? My pair will be a girl from the group, and we've been practising( hmm :D) in empty lessons. I think it's a great help to talk to someone we know and not rely on a perfect stranger.
Raven Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I think it's a great help to talk to someone we know and not rely on a perfect stranger. i think it shouldnt matter! Actually it does. And than we had only an intemediate level exam. Of yourse, there are those who pass the exam somehow, but they don't dare to speak, consequently they cannot communicate. So do I. Exactly the same date :D probably becos you were able to speak the language on a much higher level. i dont stand corrected... thats exactly the point i was making. i never said you cant pass these same exams if youre better than those who also pass them but cant speak englsih outside of class. April 16, ECL exam. Still have a month. let us know how it went!

I think it's a great help to talk to someone we know and not rely on a perfect stranger. I'm going to take the oral exam with my brother. We've practised a lot and I'm quite confident about the exam. probably becos you were able to speak the language on a much higher level. i dont stand corrected... thats exactly the point i was making. i never said you cant pass these same exams if youre better than those who also pass them but cant speak englsih outside of class. THat's true, I guess we agree, after all :)
