TIRU Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 umm..you're a true hero -_- you'd like to reach the peace(or your peace..i dunno) with guns...isn't it ironic? i really dont want to involve in this conversation...but your opinion is disturb me... :/ I don't care if its disturbing you...I won't be ashamed of my opinion. And yeah...I want to fight for peace. There's no peace without a war before it. But there's no peace until terrorists fight their "jihad" bullshit...so at first we have to fight this war against them and wipe them out. Then we can have peace. And that's what I want. That's what I'll be fighting for.
Madridista Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 That's a rubbish. Why couldn't be peace without a war? It's just a stupid american theory -_-
Ante Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Wow! What a debate! Two fundamentally different points of view on life. It's funny because both side thinks they can prove their point to be the absolute truth. But I don't think world is that simple. On one hand, war is madness and taking a life is just a sin. On the other, there are actually people out there willing to take innocent lifes: the ones who think that killing as many of the enemy as possible is an honour and can grant access to heaven. Try to convince them about suicide bomb attacks not being the only solutions for they problems! I don't debate that there are fanatics on both sides and the USA had no just reason for attacking Iraq besides economic ones. But mere conversation doesn't always help. I think pacifism is just an idealisation of how the world works and militarism is also an idealisation of how there is always honour and dignity dying on the battlefield (while the reasons one is fighting for are rarely just). But we need both ways of thinking: pacifists to restrain their leaders when they go too far and soldiers who are willing to fight when there is a real reason to fight.
B4LINT Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 And you go to a war, and you'll hate shit like this. I won't hate it, trust me ;) I only want to say one thing to this playin' the marine (and believing that kinda - I believe bullshit -) stuff. It's connected to Grass' opinion, and well, it's rather a question: Have you ever seen 'Apocalypse now' from Francis Ford Coppola? If you hadn't seen it, just go and watch it, and watch it carefully, turn off your (no offense) absolutely one-sided thinking, try to catch it in the way it is, ok? And this 'I won't hate it' stuff, maybe, could be changed a little bit. If you had already seen it, well, watch it again. (but this way, there's absolutely no help for you :D) --- Btw it was interesting to read these last 2 pages :) (and ofc if my English is somewhere incorrect, sry, but I hope it's understandable)

grasslover Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 goddamn...that was Vietnam...Iraq is different...maybe you should look after things before you start being clever ;) And of course I saw it... War....war never changes.
abstractor Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 goddamn...that was Vietnam...Iraq is different...maybe you should look after things before you start being clever ;) And of course I saw it... Then go watch Jarhead. It doesn't take place in Iraq but in Saudi Arabia, but the two places are similar I think. So: the war. You want to kill people, because you don't consider that they are people too. You want to go to the deserts, kill people and you want your country to be proud of you. Well, do that, I don't really care but watch this movie, just to know what you'll be into. ;) Yeah, Iraq is different from Vietnam, because in Vietnam the air has a lot more water vapour, but killing - it's always the same shit. I would kill people only in that case if they want to kill me and I can't do it in any other ways, so in short: if I HAVE TO. But probably I would have nightmares and depression after that case. Only if I have to. Not because it's fun, man. You have lost your way... "I want the power what a weapon can give..." - ccc... it's a risky statement, don't you think?

TIRU Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 he has seen it already 28 times :D Best movie ever B) Then go watch Jarhead. Swoff wanted to kill but he didn't had the chance to do it. He was proud to be there. He was just bored 'cause they did nothing except patrolling and training. He says at the end of the movie: "And every jarhead, killing and dying...will always be me" HE WAS PROUD TO BE A MARINE...HE WAS PROUD TO SERVE HIS COUNTRY...HE WAS PROUD TO BE THERE There was nothing bad in that movie...it just made my diceision stornger...The thing I saw in that movie was that those guys were proud to be marines and they did not had any problem with killing those Iraqi bastards...maybe you should watch the movie again ;) Actually I've never said I want to kill people from fun...YOU've lost your way :D The only thing I said that wouldn't have any problem to kill those bastards. Why? Because if I don't kill 'em they're gonna kill me. Sorry for that...but I don't want to die...This job is "Kill or be killed"...I stay alive or they...and I'd rather choose myself...especially whe they = terrorists, suicide bombers etc.
Ante Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Can't we change subject? Clever suggestion. This argument is pointless. You can't convince each other so just live and let live...
